We built Modern Focus around a simple observation: limiting one app is not always enough when the next distraction is one tap away.
Boundaries for the whole pattern
Modern Focus connects selected apps and website domains through a shared rolling time allowance. Session limits, opening limits, and mandatory pauses add boundaries around how you use that allowance. A configuration lock adds friction to relaxing the rules.
The aim is to help you make deliberate choices about your attention while keeping essential tools available. The app does not decide which activities matter to you.
Who writes this website
Articles are published by the Modern Focus editorial team, the app's makers. We have a commercial interest in the app. Product comparisons are our own explanations, not independent reviews. We do not present invented users, testimonials, clinical credentials, star ratings, or traffic statistics.
How we use evidence
Research summaries link to papers or authoritative explanations. We distinguish experimental findings from personal experiences and avoid treating associations or anecdotes as proof. Studies of other digital interventions do not demonstrate that Modern Focus produces the same outcomes.
Reddit discussions help identify questions worth answering. They are not representative surveys, endorsements, or independently verified outcomes. We paraphrase themes without turning individual posters into marketing testimonials.
Product claims were checked against the current Android app on 7 September 2026. Browser support and operating-system behavior can change. Verify your own setup before relying on it.
What we do not promise
Modern Focus is not a treatment for addiction or other mental health conditions. We do not promise a dopamine reset, a particular reduction in screen time, or a guaranteed improvement in concentration. Persistent distress or significant interference with daily life is a reason to seek qualified support.
The current app is Android-only. It has no desktop sync, calendar scheduler, selective Reels blocking, or unbreakable uninstall protection. Restart-based settings friction should not be confused with those features.

When the app launches, its Google Play listing will provide a developer contact for support and editorial corrections. Include the article URL and the point you believe needs updating. Browse the source library to inspect the evidence yourself.
